SUMMARY:git/GitLab
DESCRIPTION:Learn Skills for Research Software Engineering. Learn to use version control with Git. Version control is the lab notebook of the digital world: it’s what professionals use to keep track of what they’ve done and to collaborate with other people. Every large software development project relies on it\, and most programmers use it for their small jobs as well. And it isn’t just for software: books\, papers\, small data sets\, and anything that changes over time or needs to be shared can and should be stored in a version control system.\nCONTACT: facilitator@datascience.wisc.edu\nURL: https://uw-madison-datascience.github.io/2025-10-01-uwmadison-mini/

SUMMARY:Genomics Data Carpentry
DESCRIPTION:Fundamental Data Skills Workshop. Data Carpentry’s aim is to teach researchers basic concepts\, skills\, and tools for working with data so that they can get more done in less time\, and with less pain. This workshop teaches data management and analysis for genomics research including: best practices for organization of bioinformatics projects and data\, use of command-line utilities\, use of command-line tools to analyze sequence quality and perform variant calling\, connecting to and using cloud computing\, and using R for analysis.\nCONTACT: facilitator@datascience.wisc.edu\nURL: https://uw-madison-datascience.github.io/2025-08-04-uwmadison-dc/

SUMMARY:Genomics Data Carpentry
DESCRIPTION:Fundamental Data Skills Workshop. Data Carpentry develops and teaches workshops on the fundamental data skills needed to conduct research. Its target audience is researchers who have little to no prior computational experience\, and its lessons are domain specific\, building on learners' existing knowledge to enable them to quickly apply skills learned to their own research. Participants will be encouraged to help one another and to apply what they have learned to their own research problems.\nCONTACT: facilitator@datascience.wisc.edu\nURL: https://uw-madison-datascience.github.io/2025-08-04-uwmadison-genomics/
