Emerging Interfaces Award: Ryan Lawless and Digitally-Made Pottery [VIDEO]

Ryan Lawless explains how he used digital tools to create pottery.

Ryan Lawless, 2012 Emerging Interfaces Award recipient:

The aim of this project is to use new technologies to replicate the process of making hand-made pottery by using only digital resources. With astonishing advancements in 3D modeling technology, we are able to digitally create objects both foreign and familiar. Through applying these technologies to the very human endeavor of folk arts and crafts, hybrid products are created that speak to both the traditionalist and technologist. Tactility, functionality and domesticity are the overlapping traits but the products are vastly different in their design and construction.
