Honoring a Legacy: Morgan Ramsey Receives the Brian Howell Memorial Scholarship
Morgan Ramsey, a Wisconsin Institute for Discovery intern for Communications and Multimedia, was awarded the Brian Howell Memorial Scholarship at Madison Magazine’s Best of Business Awards Luncheon on February 20, 2025. This award, established in honor of Madison Magazine Editor Brian Howell, recognizes outstanding students in Life Sciences Communication.
Brian Howell was a dedicated editor, journalist, and lecturer in the LSC department at UW–Madison. After his passing in 2003, his media colleagues created this scholarship to honor his legacy and commitment to improving how life sciences are communicated.
“I am truly honored to have been selected as a recipient of the Brian Howell Memorial Scholarship,” says Morgan Ramsey. “Brian’s commitment to improving how life sciences are communicated—to both the industry and the public—aligns strongly with my own passion for the intersection of science and communication. I’m excited to follow in his footsteps and contribute to this field in meaningful ways.”
Madison Magazine remembers Howell as a visionary editor and instructor who shaped the way business and lifestyle intersected in media. His impact continues to inspire new generations of communicators, and this scholarship ensures that his passion for innovative storytelling lives on.
